These new sky paintings are a temporary departure from the Ocean paintings that I am noted for. I wanted to do something a little less time intensive than my wave paintings. They are a continuation of my exploration into colour, light and movement. My initial intention was to paint just clouds but the water just snuck into some of them.
Clouds are composed of suspended water droplets and at different times can look wispy or solid. The way a cloud is lit dramatically alters its appearance. They are translucent and reflect light as well as absorb light. Their shapes are infinitely variable and no two are exactly alike, very much like waves.
I have come to the realization of the similarity between the ocean and the sky, ever changing, vast, mysterious and romantic.
